Day 1: Cotopaxi Volcano (5,897 meters)
Depart from Quito in the morning, heading south along the Avenue of the Volcanoes towards Cotopaxi National Park. Upon arrival, visit the Interpretation Center to learn about the park's unique ecosystem, followed by a stop at Limpiopungo Lagoon, where you can admire breathtaking views and spot native wildlife. Continue the journey by vehicle up to Padre Rivas Refuge at 4,830 meters, with the option to hike up to the glacier at 5,050 meters, depending on weather conditions and physical ability. Enjoy a traditional Ecuadorian lunch at a local restaurant before settling in for an overnight stay in the Cotopaxi area.Day 2: Quilotoa Lagoon (3,914 meters)
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive through the Andean highlands, passing through Pujilí town and stopping at a local indigenous home to learn about traditional lifestyles. Visit Tigua, a small village famous for its colorful naïve paintings depicting Andean life. Arrive at the stunning Quilotoa Lagoon, a volcanic crater lake with striking turquoise waters. Choose to hike down to the lake's edge or walk along the crater rim for panoramic views. Optional activities include muleback riding or kayaking in the lagoon. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Baños, where you'll spend the night.Day 3: Baños – Waterfalls Route & Adventure
Start the day with breakfast before exploring Baños, a charming town known for its waterfalls and adventure activities. Visit the Waterfalls Route, stopping at breathtaking spots such as Pailón del Diablo, one of Ecuador's most impressive waterfalls, and Manto de la Novia, where you can take a cable car ride over the valley. Experience the Casa del Árbol, home to the famous "Swing at the End of the World," offering spectacular views of the Tungurahua volcano. Optional activities include zip-lining, canyoning, or visiting the thermal baths. In the evening, travel to Riobamba for an overnight stay.Day 4: Chimborazo Volcano (6,263 meters) – Return to Quito
After breakfast, head towards Chimborazo Volcano, Ecuador's highest peak, which holds the title of the farthest point from the Earth’s center due to its location along the equatorial bulge. Drive up to Carrel Refuge at 4,800 meters, with an option to hike up to Whymper Refuge at 5,000 meters for incredible views of the surrounding Andes. Take in the stunning scenery and observe native wildlife such as vicuñas, a relative of the llama. After exploring the area, enjoy a hearty lunch before returning to Quito, concluding this unforgettable four-day journey through the Ecuadorian Andes.
